How to get your photograph on canvas

  1. You place an order for the size print you want.

    During the ordering process:
    • you enter your contact details.
    • you select any optional services.
    • you enter any special instructions.
    • When you press the final "checkout" button our computer system will generate an email for you with instructions for getting your image(s) to us.

  2. You send us the picture.

A link in the e-mail we send will allow you to connect to our server, so you can upload your digital file onto our computer.  At this time you will have the option to enter instructions about cropping, enhancements or special effects such as black-and-white, sepia-tone, etc.  The reason for this two-phase approach is to be completely sure that we can marry up your files and your contact details, and to make sure we can contact you by email, and that there are no 'typos'..
    • We can take digital image files in any format, or photographic prints, negatives or slides.
    • The more information we have to start with, the better the results we can produce, so send as many pixels as you can, up to a maximum upload size of 25MB.
    • If your image is too large to upload to our computer, or if you prefer for some other reason not to use our uploading system, we are very happy to accept delivery by mail or courier - simply leave the filename blank in the upload dialogue.
    • If your image cannot be enlarged satisfactorily to the size you want, we will contact you before committing to print.
    • It may be necessary to crop your image, if the shape of the original does not match the dimensions of the frame you have chosen.
    • About 2 inches all the way around your image will wrap around the sides and on to the back.  If important detail goes right up to the edge of your image, we can print a black (or white or any other colour) border to frame the image instead.  There are other options too.  Talk to us if you have particular instructions.

  3. We'll process the image.

    • We import your image from the web server into our graphics computer, and run it through the process to enlarge it and apply any cropping necessary.
    • Next we do any enhancements you have requested, such as correcting light levels, colour, contrast etc.

  4. We'll verify the "final" image with you.

    • Once finished the computer processing, we'll check it's what you're expecting by emailing you a thumbnail image of the final layout.
    • If you want to be really certain the final result will be up to your expectation, we can print a snippet of a sample proof at the enlarged size and send it to you.  There are different options here, so you will need to talk to us.
    • Once you're happy with everything, let us know and we'll progress.

  5. We e-mail you a GST invoice

    The invoice will include:
    • The price of the finished canvas.
    • Any extra charges for proofs, enhancements, scanning, returning scans on CD, etc.
    • A modest amount for post and packing.  The price for delivery varies depending on where you want the canvas sent.

  6. You settle the bill.

    • Internet banking is the best option for us (just make sure your name and order number are included as our reference), but we can also bank a personal cheque (and wait for the funds to clear).
    • Our bank is: ASB Takapuna, account name "Giclee Print Limited", account number 12-3026-0352120-00
    • Once the total amount is fully credited to our account, we print the canvas.

  7. Finally, we manufacture your canvas

    This involves:
    • printing (day 1)
    • drying (day 2)
    • spraying with UV-protectant coating (day 3)
    • stretching over frame and despatch (day 4)
Timings are approximate, but manufacture shouldn't take more than 10 working days at the very outside, depending on current volumes through the workshop.

Included in the package will be care and hanging instructions.

We ALWAYS send you an email confirming your instructions.

If you don't receive it within a few minutes, check:

  • you have not typed the wrong address,
  • that your inbox is not full
  • and that your SPAM filter is not stopping email from sales at gicleeprint.co.nz.

In all other cases, please contact us by telephone.

We use your email address plus your order number to identify your images, so it is important we get it right.
